press release announcing the opening of the new Empire Room, decorated by Ellen Lehman McClusky and located across the Foyer to the former site of the Sert Room, the room is described as having: "an elaborate decor in predominating colors of apricot and silver with an Empire feeling, the period from which the room's name derives. The upper walls of the room are apricot velvet with a passementerie work of applied silver rope, mirrors framed in silver leaf rope and gigantic silver leaf rope sconces. Three huge crystal Marie Therese chandeliers dominate the room..."
