Description

Black and white photograph depicting the murals in the Starlight Roof at the Waldorf=Astoria from the 1935 publication "The Waldorf-Astoria" by Richard Averill Smith.

The mural decorations of the Starlight Roof are the work of the American painter, Victor White. The walls at the ends of the garden are golden-hued mirrors bearing tropical motifs in red and pale green. On the walls of the central portion and dance floor of the room, White created colored-glass mosaics depicting tropical plants, flowers and birds against sand-colored plaster.
