"THE Waldorf-Astoria: New York"
Title
"THE Waldorf-Astoria: New York"
Description
This collection consists of reproductions of illustrations from the publication "The Waldorf-Astoria, New York." The promotional book was compiled in 1903 by George C. Boldt. This promotional publication is a rich resource for images of the interiors and decorative details of the original Waldorf-Astoria, which was located where the Empire State Building now stands. Originally two separate hotels, the Waldorf and Astoria, the decor often varies greatly. When browsing the collection, note the historical themes of interior decoration at the Waldorf and the more modern schemes applied around the Astoria. The book features an array of lithographs based on photographs taken by Benjamin Falk. Falk was the preeminent theatrical photographer of the time and had his studio in the Waldorf-Astoria.
