A picture of the original Waldorf Astoria Hotel roofgarden; picture taken by George Boldt in 1903.

During the winter months from 1903-1929, the roof garden of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel was converted into an ice skating rink to be used by hotel guests.

In this letter, Mr. Boldt is writing in response to Mr. Duryea thanking him for sending the tax forms for "Mrs. Boldt's property." This property is in fact Boldt Castle, located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate, New York.
