Title
The Waldorf, 1893
Description
Black and white photograph depicting the Waldorf Hotel, 1893.
"This photograph of the original Waldorf was made in the spring of 1893, a few weeks after the hotel opened its doors to the public. The picture was taken from the middle block on 33rd street between 5th and Madison Avenues, looking West. On the right adjoining the Waldorf, is the residence of John Jacob Astor, on which site the Astoria was erected in 1897, and the hotel became the Waldorf-Astoria."
