Black and white photograph depicting the salon of a French Suite from the 1935 publication "The Waldorf-Astoria" by Richard Averill Smith.

"one to four bedrooms, as desired.. large black and white marble baths.. a boudoir-dressing room.. on the corner of either 49th or 50th Streets and Park Avenue."

French suites feature French fixtures, antiques and furniture and their design is based upon Louis XV and Louis XVI interiors. Most were designed by L. Alavoine & Co. and Jacques Bodart, Inc. Antique French mantels were purchased under the supervision of M. Francois Boucher, of Carnavalet Musee.
