Description
The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise poses for their photograph in the Grand Ballroom at their celebratory ships party dinner.
Abstract
The Enterprise docked in Bayone, New Jersey on December 24th, a few days late due to a storm they faced in the Atlantic Ocean. Upon docking, the ships Reverend received a phone call from the operator of a boys orphanage close to the port of Bayone asking the reverend if there was anything that the ship and its crew could do for these young boys for Christmas. The crew hosted a party on the ship and invited the young boys to tour, see, and explore the ship - it was one of the best Christmas's these young boys had. Upon hearing of this gracious act, Frank Ready, General Manager of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, invited the entire crew to the hotel for a 2-day celebration honoring not only the holiday season, but the selfless acts the crew of the USS Enterprise committed on and off of the battle field. This image was donated by a member of the Floralia floral department of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
