Description
Black and white photograph depicting Conrad Hilton (right) with New Mexico Governor Edwin L. Mechem (left) during a reception for a group of New Mexico businessmen at The Waldorf on May 17, 1962. When a supervisory employee (who had been tending bar because many of the Hotel's service employees were out on strike) was called away, Hilton got behind the bar to mix the drinks, and Waldorf resident manager Thomas J. Kane (center) served hors d'oeuvres.
